Demoiselle Crane (Anthropoides virgo) is a true rarity in Finland and the whole Western Europe.

Bird was very fearless and confident.

"White Swan Goes Black"

The video of the month in April 2011 is filmed in Finland, during the most intense time of spring migration.

Whooper swan (Gygnus gygnus) mates for life.

In this video, the male is so full of passion for his mate, that only a one gaze from a nearby bachelor makes him furious..

THE BIRDVISION VIDEO OF THE MONTH 2/2011:
"Hornbill against strange rival"

The video of the month in February 2011 is filmed in Ethiopia.

Hemprich's Hornbill (Tochus hemprichii) feels a bit agitated, when a strange rival apperas on it's territory.

Intensive threatening gestures and voices seems to have no effect at all to the strange rival.

No wonder it's imitative behavior feels very frustrating...

THE BIRDVISION VIDEO OF THE MONTH 1/2011:
" Spider catches dove"

The video of the month in January 2011 is filmed in Oman with Dick Forsman.

A Laughing Dove was caught in something, which we figured to be somekind of trap. Our surprise was enormous when we found out that the trap was actually a huge spider web, made by gigantic Nephila -spider, "Golden Orb Web Spider".

Laughing Dove was totally exhausted after trying to fight it's way out to freedom.. And the spider just waited patiently to finish the job...

THE BIRDVISION VIDEO OF THE MONTH 12/2010

The video of the month in December 2010 is a scene from the documentary "The Unknown Honey Buzzard". In spring-like Eilat the main migration of the blackcaps was in full swing.

It felt like there were birds fluttering around every bush and shrub. Some birds stopped to feast on water melons which had been laid out for the donkeys.

A cattle egret which was passing by was gathering insects among the fruit at its leisure, until it decided to change its meal for a heavier one …
